For years, McDonald's aired TV commercials with their McDonaldland characters for children to watch.  The commercials included Ronald McDonald, McDonald's mascot, with characters such as Birdie the Early Bird, Grimace, the Hamburglar, the Fry Guys, the McNugget Buddies and more.   The characters were featured in McDonald's PlayPlace Playgrounds, as popular plastic toys in McDonald's Happy Meals, and the characters appeared in multiple video games and direct-to-video animated movies.  Unfortunately, McDonald's began to phase out the McDonaldland characters and, in 2003, McDonald's retired the McDonaldland characters altogether.  Ronald McDonald has also been semi-retired and makes very few appearances, usually with his Ronald McDonald balloon in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and in a new uniform.

We, the fans who grew up with the McDonaldland characters, would like to see the characters come out of retirement and return to McDonald's television commercials, Happy Meal toys and other merchandise.  It would be fun for adults to see the return for nostalgia and it would be fun for today's children to get introduced to these classic colorful characters and to bring the magic of McDonaldland back to McDonald's.
