UPDATE: AUGUST 19, 2023
Andrew was taken to the ER and admitted to hospital August 18, 2023. I asked the nurse to give Andrew a message, "MOM AND DAD LOVE YOU!"
I consider the FORM 2 as a GIFT OF LOVE to our son. I realize that the Form 2 caused Andrew to be apprehended by the police and taken to hospital. We are fighting so hard to help Andrew get his life back. The serious mental illness has destroyed his quality of life. Andrew has lost EVERYTHING including his career as an Assistant Bank Manger, wife, two children ages 5 and 8, and his home in Charlottetown. He is homeless on the streets of Toronto depending on Ontario residents to help him survive.
Andrew was ADMITTED for up to 72 hours. We spoke to a social worker. I advised her that the goal is to medically transfer Andrew back to P.E.I.
I do have the support of Andrew's psychiatrist on P.E.I. and Ontario politicians, as well as 5062 people who have signed the PLEASE BRING ANDREW BRYENTON HOME TO P.E.I. PETITION.
THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR REACHING 5062 SIGNATURES. THERE IS STILL LOTS OF TIME FOR MORE SIGNATURES! ANDREW AND I THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Here is the link: https://chng.it/TMKMZfHH2p
I think the PLEASE BRING ANDREW BRYENTON HOME TO P.E.I. PETITION with 5062 signatures will have an impact on the Minister of Health, Sylvia Jones. She will not be able to ignore the thousands of people supporting Andrew.
People all over Ontario have rallied to support not only our son but to demonstrate their keen desire to have MENTAL HEALTH REFORM. Andrew's story demonstrate how broken the system is at this time.
Members of TEAM have contacted the Ontario Minister of Health, Sylvia Jones and Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, Michael Tibillo.
There is a provision under the Mental Health Act whereby the Minister of Health can issue an order to have Andrew medically transferred home to P.E.I.
If this order does not happen, Andrew could be released to the streets again on Monday, August 21, 2023. I feel there will be a public outcry and much media publicity should this happen. Please pray for a miracle!
Literally thousands of Ontario and Prince Edward Island residents care about Andrew and many other homeless Andrews on the streets.
The Toronto media is taking great interest in Andrew's story. A blog was written by Marvin Ross entitled, WHY ONTARIO'S MENTAL HEALTH IS DEFICIENT - THE TALE OF A HOMELESS MAN WHO SHOULDN'T BE HOMELESS.
The Globe and Mail photographer, John Morris, came to our home to take photos for an upcoming story written by Marcus Gee.
