A psychiatrist will determine Andrew's fate Monday, August 20, 2023. If Andrew is released, any number of things could happen. He could be hit by a car or perhaps freeze in a snowbank on the streets of Toronto.
The psychiatrist will be in the hospital around 10:00 a.m. to do assessments. I am thankful that the hospital has all Andrew's collateral information such as almost being hit by a car twice. In addition, he ran up a ramp, in the dark, in the pouring rain, against the traffic, on to Highway 409, near the Pearson Airport. He could have been killed.
We shall soon see if the psychiatrist deems Andrew a harm to self or others.
Our church family prayed for a miracle to happen tomorrow. We prayed that Andrew would be granted the medical transfer recommended by Andrew's P.E.I. psychiatrist. This doctor wants to bring Andrew home and have him hospitalized.
The Ontario Minister of Health, Hon. Sylvia Jones is in a meeting all day tomorrow, so we don't expect the order to be issued.
We hope that God has a plan for Andrew's life and that his life will be saved tomorrow.
I have contacted a lawyer. He has recommended that I try to reach Andrew's doctor tomorrow, but he is on vacation. The lawyer would like Andrew's doctor to speak with the Ontario doctor before the decision is made. This may not happen.
Our family will be praying for a good outcome.
UPDATE: AUGUST 20, 2023
Andrew was taken to the ER and admitted to hospital August 18, 2023. I asked the nurse to give Andrew this message, "MOM AND DAD LOVE YOU!"
Our family considers the FORM 2 as a GIFT OF LOVE to our son. I realize that this Form 2 caused Andrew to be apprehended by the police and taken to hospital. Mental illness has stolen Andrew's life and we are fighting to get it back!
Andrew was ADMITTED for up to 72 hours. We spoke to a social worker. I advised her that the goal is to medically transfer Andrew back to P.E.I. where he will be hospitalized by his psychiatrist. She grilled me on harm to self and others!
TOMORROW WILL DETERMINE ANDREW'S FATE! A psychiatrist will decide whether to release Andrew or permit a medical transfer as requested by Andrew's psychiatrist on P.E.I. Andrew would be hospitalized on P.E.I. upon arrival home. We need a Form three signed which permits a further 14 day stay. The P.E.I. doctor thinks it will take this long to enable Andrew to become stable enough to fly.
Please pray that the psychiatrist has the wisdom to discern that Andrew should be medically transferred back home for hospitalization.
Andrew was an Assistant Bank Manager with the dream of becoming a Bank Manager. He would have been the Bank Manager now had his illness not taken over his life five years ago.
Andrew would never want this lifestyle. He had a wife, two children ages 5 and 8 and a home on P.E.I. Andrew was a family man much loved by bank staff, church family, as well as baseball and bowling teammates.
I do have the support of Andrew's psychiatrist on P.E.I., Ontario politicians, as well as 5462 people who have signed the PLEASE BRING ANDREW BRYENTON HOME TO P.E.I. PETITION. THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR REACHING almost 5500 signatures. THERE IS STILL LOTS OF TIME FOR MORE SIGNATURES! WE AS A FAMILY THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
The Minister of Health, Sylvia Jones, and Associate Minister of Mental Health & Addictions, Michael Tibollo, can not ignore this petition! Please send e-mails sylvia.jones@ontario.ca and michael.tibollo@ontario.ca.
Residents in Ontario have rallied to support not only our son but to demonstrate their keen desire to have MENTAL HEALTH REFORM.
Members of TEAM have contacted the Ontario Minister of Health, Sylvia Jones. and Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, Michael Tibollo.
There is a provision under the Mental Health Act whereby the Minister of Health can issue an order to have Andrew medically transferred home to P.E.I.
If this order does not happen, Andrew could be released to the streets again on Monday, August 21, 2023. All forms of the media including the Globe and Mail are waiting with bated breath to report the outcome.
How do you think the hospital and psychiatrist would feel if Andrew is hit by a car and killed? I hope they think twice before releasing him to a life where he will not survive especially in the winter.
I think Andrew's PLEASE BRING ANDREW BRYENTON HOME TO P.E.I. PETITION with 5462 signatures will have an impact on the Minister of Health, Sylvia Jones. Here is the link: https://chng.it/TMKMZfHH2p
Literally thousands of Ontario and Prince Edward Island residents care about Andrew and many other homeless Andrews on the streets.
The Toronto media is taking great interest in Andrew's story. A blog was written by Marvin Ross entitled, WHY ONTARIO'S MENTAL HEALTH IS DEFICIENT - THE TALE OF A HOMELESS MAN WHO SHOULDN'T BE HOMELESS.
The Globe and Mail photographer, John Morris, came to take photos for the upcoming article written by Marcus Gee.
Please pray for our son's future and medical transfer tomorrow!
