In a recent interview with The Telegraph, best-selling author John Grisham criticized the prison system, saying that it has “gone nuts” because people who watch child pornography are given harsh sentences. Grisham said:

“These are people who haven’t hurt anybody. They deserve some type of punishment, whatever, but 10 years in prison?” 

Grisham also said that men who end up in prison for looking at child pornography probably just “had too much to drink” and “got online one night.”

“We have prisons now filled with guys my age — 60-year-old white men in prison who’ve never harmed anybody. Who would never touch a child, but they got online one night, started surfing around, probably had too much to drink whatever and pushed the wrong buttons, and went too far and went into child porn or whatever.”

The children in these images and films are real children. They are real children being sexually abused and raped, so men can look at these images, and have an orgasm to them. It is beyond belief that anyone would defend this as no more than a misdemeanour.
