Shame on you Ambergris Caye. Shame on every one of you that walked by this dog and did nothing, not even give it some water. Cutting it free would have been humane; it would have stood a better chance running the streets than facing a slow, cruel, and painful death. Straight up torture ... and no one is accountable. He ultimately died from heat stroke.

“The man who kills the animals today is the man who kills the people who get in his way tomorrow."

Holding the owner responsible is good, but that does not solve the larger issue of animal cruelty in the community. We need laws, accountability, and enforcement to protect these innocent lives from such horrific treatment. The authorities must "feel" the outrage of the people who care about their community and how bad this makes them look before it becomes important to them. 

Ambergris Caye relies on Tourism, and contributions from its large expat community ... so please, raise your voice, even if you are visiting the island. To that end, the government has relied on nonprofit organizations to address this problem. The solution starts with the government, all we are doing is cleaning up the mess afterward.
