PETITION TO CHALLENGE: The proposed development of 17 Condo Units at 54 Pleasant Street in place of the existing Scally-Trayers Funeral Home location.
SITUATION BEING ADDRESSED: The abutters and neighbors of 54 Pleasant Street have met collectively and attended several CSHCA relevant meetings since January 10, 2017 and have shared opposition to the size and scale of this proposed 17-Unit development project. An invitation was extended to the developer Joey Arcari to meet directly with the abutters to discuss our concerns related to density, parking, traffic and safety and to discuss a more agreeable solution that the neighborhood is in favor of - but the meeting was turned down and plans filed directly with the Boston Planning & Development Agency instead.
SUGGESTED SOLUTION: The neighbors and abutters to 54 Pleasant Street are in support of a reduced scale development and as a group the majority are comfortable with a REDUCED TOTAL of 9 CONDO UNITS, which will address the major concerns of density (project FAR is 3.5x the current zoning restriction), parking, green space and vehicle traffic which directly impacts the safety and added congestion of current residents in the neighborhood. (Please note: "majority" was mentioned as some neighbors would only be comfortable with a max of 6 condo units.)
The undersigned Petitioning abutters and neighbors are NOT opposed to development at 54 Pleasant Street, but unanimously agree that the current proposed 17-Unit development is far too excessive in size and scale. We hope to see an updated development project drafted (with fewer total units) which we could be in support of. Thank you.
