Let’s get David Bowie a Blue Plaque.

On 10 January 2016, David Bowie sadly passed away, leaving the world a less talented and much less interesting place.

One year on, I would like to honour him with the proposal of an English Heritage Blue Plaque...with a difference.
I want to adapt the Blue Plaque to feature the iconic Aladdin Sane lightning bolt.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Blue Plaques, they are a scheme by English Heritage that “celebrates the links between notable figures of the past and the buildings in which they lived and worked”.

Now, I’m not going to use this page to convince you that David Bowie deserves a Blue Plaque, but that he deserves one now.

You see, one of the criteria English Heritage have is that “at least 20 years must have passed since a candidate’s death” before being considered for a Blue Plaque.

I don’t know the reasons behind this rule, but I am petitioning that it be overlooked for David (and perhaps for everyone), so that more people can visit the place where he grew up in Brixton and celebrate his life.
