Plant trees along Liverpool Rd between Barley Farm and J11 to reduce pollution and restrict HGVs.
Developers should have to sponsor local community improvements such as tree planting to reduce impacts from their developments such as increased HGV vehicles and pollution in the area.
Salford Council are in consultation over the planning of industrial developments affecting the residents in the Peel Green area including £25 million warehouse development next to the AJ Rugby.
These developments have been noted to increase HGV throughout between Barley Farm and J11 by 128 HGV movements a day if planning is approved which is the equivalent of an additional HGV every 6 minutes.
Increased vibrations from HGV movements are damaging to homes, increases air pollution and dust and debris and increase noise pollution in a residential area.
The local residents have been petitioning to restrict HGV movements down this stretch of road , reduce the speed limit , line the road with trees to reduce noise , air and dust pollution and include cycle lanes, however none of the developments are willing to support this and the Council do not have the support to restrict the movements.
This is disappointing given the climate of sustainability and climate change and demonstrates a lack of commitment to sustainability, and local communities and the impacts these developments have. Developments of this size should have to give back to the local community and the environment and should be made to listen to the local communities. Please sign this petition to help our community have a voice in regards to these developments.
