Rancangan Struktur Negeri Selangor (KIDEX / PJD Link)

The last time I wrote about the new PJD Link highway, I mentioned that former Selangor MB Azmin Ali placed three conditions on the KIDEX highway project.

It was the failure to comply with these conditions that led to the cancellation of the project in Feb 2015.

What a lot of Petaling Jaya residents do not know or appreciate was the fact that the advocacy went on much further than February of 2015.
Months after the announced cancellation, the alignment of the highway was still being put into the official planning blueprint for the Selangor government.

The Draf Rancangan Struktur Negeri Selangor 2035 has the Kidex highway drawn into the maps but does not describe the highway in the text.

This is contrary to what (the) Selangor MB promised in February this year that Kidex would be cancelled and removed from the state government’s plans for development,” Mak told Malay Mail Online. (1)

Naturally, after quite a bit of discussion, we managed to negotiate this bit of text into the Selangor Structure Plan 2035.

This is page 5-132 of the Selangor State Structure Plan. I have zoomed in on the relevant portion of the page.

Clearly, the preparation of three reports are required for a highway proposal, namely the Traffic Impact Assessment, Social Impact Assessment and Environmental Impact Assessment.

Instead of there being actual reference materials and a clear indication that the Selangor government is seriously considering the project, we have a developer making claims that all sorts of things have been approved while the politicians just tell residents to listen to what the developer has to say but also insist nothing has been approved.

The politicians also REFUSE to refute the developer's approval claims.
So the residents are stuck in a limbo of passive aggressive letters pleading for the Menteri Besar to take action while also refusing to take the Selangor government to task for putting the residents through this kind harassment.

Look. I don't want to talk too much about the highway project because it is just a cat and mouse game between residents and developer right now.

The real party that needs to be dragged into this conversation is the politicians, which some of you praise to high heavens.

Plus there is that news report that an alternative route was proposed by a resident too, which conveniently avoids one part of Petaling Jaya for another part.

You residents are not united and you will lose this fight.

Stop this passive aggressive nonsense and just whack the politicians for failing to uphold their own rules.

Write more letters to condemn the politicians.

Alternatively, continue being divided and slowly lose the perception war and have your homes taken from you a year or two from now.  Peace.
