Watch with caution -- what can prevent these incidents from happening on DASH, EKVE, SUKE, and later PJDLink? All elevated highways, 3-7 stories above ground.

At least 21 people have been killed when a bus fell from an elevated road onto a van in the Philippines. Another 16 people were injured when the bus veered off the Skyway road and crashed onto the vehicle 32ft (9.6m) below in Paranaque, in the suburbs of the capital Manila, police said.

The bus driver was critically injured and the van driver had minor injuries, according to Dr Carmencita Solidum, medical director of the Paranaque Doctors' Hospital, where 10 of the injured were being treated.

The cause of the crash has not been confirmed, but the road was wet from rain, a spokeswoman from the company which operates the Skyway said. Witnesses also suggested the bus may have been travelling too fast. Motorist Irene Sisperes said she was driving with her daughter at 50mph (80kph) when the bus overtook her car.

She estimated that the bus was travelling at between 62mph (100kph) and 68mph (110 kph). She said it was still dark and it was raining when the crash happened.

"After a few metres, I saw the bus fall and I shouted, 'The bus fell, the bus fell'," she told DZMM radio, adding there were no other cars nearby.

Don Mariano Transit, the bus company involved in the accident, has had all its 78 vehicles suspended for 30 days while they are examined.

In 2011, three people were killed and four injured when a bus fell from the same elevated highway.
