[By resident along SUKE alignment] -- I don’t normally post things like this but the construction of SUKE highway behind our house is putting my patience level into test and it’s really frustrating! First of all, during this time of great stress and uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Why aren’t your workers putting mask and gloves on ? Shouldn’t that be part of the SOPs ?
Well, These few years of pollution and congestion at our housing area have already caused massive troubles to families around! You all made noise from day to night and even at midnight with whistle blowing and people shouting around! Did you really fit-on a quality noise barrier? Did you really look into the road condition here and also taking care of traffic management ?
Last 2 weeks, our house was flooded when it was raining (water came out from all the light holes), all the way from 3rd floor until the 1st floor! When we get the plumber to check, it was mainly due to the clogging of main drainage pipe at rooftop! (he retrieved lots of rubbish in it and it’s mainly plastic bags & debris). Our house is at the highest land level in the garden and in order to get up to the roof, you need an extended super long ladder. There’s no way a person can be at a higher level to throw or “fly” rubbish towards the roof and there’s no dumpsite nor renovation nearby! (Question : where all these plastic bags and debris came from?)
Today, a full piece of steel just fell off right at the exit of our housing area! Is this serious ? Where’s your safety measures ? Are all your workers CIDB-qualified ? A car was just stopping at the exit seconds before the metal fell and your worker is lucky enough to escaped death! There’s no stop-work order immediately as per what you mentioned in your reply towards an online post! Work continues and I still hear construction sound at 9pm! Just because there’s no fatality, hence, no detailed and proper investigation is needed... is it?
If you have predicted that the work progress is so slow and may take up to few years for completion, why don’t you make an alternate road for residents here ? You are putting the only exit road of our housing area and houses by the roadside at high risk and you just don’t care and do nothing!
Your construction time is disrupting the normal routine of residents around! No one can predict the traffic at all and it’s rather annoying especially when we have meetings to attend, sometimes, we have to get stuck for at least half an hour to get out from this short stretch. (Question : there’s no alternate road around and proper traffic flow management, what if there’s emergency in the area?)
Until today, there’s no sound management and proper mitigation of pollution, hassle, and risk, that affect residents around!!! When there’s fatality, it’s too late for anything to be done!!! Please be a responsible highway developer!!!
