The aim of this petition is to force Pizza Express to reverse their new tips policy, which has been imposed on waiters without widespread consultation.

The changes, which see waiters earn less than 50% of tips earned via card payments or service charge, are putting staff into severe financial difficulties at a time when they can least afford it.

The 50%+ siphoned off waiters’ card tips is used by the company to boost the pay of the back of house team: Whilst we agree our colleagues in the back of house fully deserve a decent pay, it should not be at the expense of waiters who are only paid minimum wage.

Waiters work hard for their tips and in an increasingly cashless society, they are losing hundreds of pounds per month.

A coalition of waiters, trade unions and members of the public are calling on the company to reverse this ill-thought out and harmful policy, is which is hurting waiters at a time when many have already suffered financially because of COVID-19.
