#LETTHEMPLAY - Resume Winter Sports for Pittsburgh Public Schools
On January 4, 2021 Gov. Tom Wolf lifted many of the restrictions put in place in response to the continued spread of COVID-19, this lift included allowing winter sports in the state of Pennsylvania to resume practices and games with limited attendance. Seeing this as an opportunity to provide kids with a much needed outlet the PIAA and WPIAL districts immediately resumed winter sports, in particular basketball. What didn't happen....the opportunity for inner city kids in the city of Pittsburgh to resume winter sports. And we want to know why?
Playing sports isn't just about dribbling a ball, it is sometimes the saving grace for students (especially our inner city youth). Having a successful high school sports career can ultimately lead to college scholarship opportunities for our players. Not allowing sports to resume can be damaging to our kids future...haven't they already survived enough?
Our kids have been on the front lines of this pandemic just like the rest of the world. Don't be a barrier....LET THEM PLAY.
Please sign this petition asking the Athletic Director and the school board for the Pittsburgh Public Schools to allow all city schools the opportunity to resume winter sports immediately.
