Bring Back "Party Hard"

The Issue

The 2014-15 season was a disappointing one for fans of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The team clinched a playoff spot on the last day of the season, only to be eliminated in five games by the President Trophy winning New York Rangers. At this point, lifelong Pens fan Nicholas Doblick had an idea. The Penguins lacked a unique goal song. Doblick began a campaign to make "Party Hard" by Andrew W.K. the team's next goal song. With the help of Pens fans nationwide, Doblick got the attention of Andi Perelman, the team's director of new media. The team began monitoring the frequency of tweets calling for "Party Hard" and on October 29th, the switch was made. The team would go on to win back-to-back Stanley Cups with "Party Hard" blasting from the speakers in PPG Paints Arena.

This year, the team replaced the beloved goal song with "Jump Around" by House of Pain. While "Jump Around" is a very successful song, it is incredibly generic and used ad nauseam by sports teams around the world. Furthermore, it does not make anyone in Pittsburgh want to jump around. The team did not give their fans a chance to voice their opinions. This is quite possibly the most disappointing aspect of this change, as "Party Hard" was a song that the fans rallied for. It's time to campaign for "Party Hard" once more. If the Penguins truly care about what their fans want, they will make the switch back to their signature goal song.
