Baby would sneak out of the house on occasion and she liked to run and bark at people.  She never Attacked or attempted to bite.  Our neighbor knew she was loose because he heard us calling her name so got his gun and was waiting with the gun in his yard to shoot her.  She was not barking or acting aggressive when she was shot point blank in the head.  What’s concerning to me is that the man who shot her saw my son there holding her leash after he saw through Shane’s privacy fence exactly what happened.  Our dog was on all fours standing there.  She didn’t think he was going to harm her because he fed her treats previously and used to text that our dog was in his yard. He’s even brought her back to our house before when she’s gotten loose.  He was about 5 feet away from her, not threatened or being attacked at all, when he shot her to cause us emotional pain.  Our son testified that he said before shooting her “Man this family is stupid.” He chuckled after he shot our dog and told my son “that’s what you get.”  

This man threatened to shoot our dog before and took this opportunity to do it.  He was ready and waiting.  No one plans a dog attack and has a gun ready and waiting.  He had a vendetta because our dog got into his yard and got one of his chickens.  He also didn’t like my husband just giving him friendly advice.

We never threatened this man, yet he made his own law that says I’m crazy enough to kill your pet and lie to authorities about it, but maybe not crazy enough to kill me or someone in my family.  Maybe he is crazy enough to want to come after us.  I hope not for his new born baby’s sake.  This man feels he can lie and get away with pet murder; who’s to say he wouldn’t get away with human murder if he’s already willing to lie?  We must value human life as well as animal life.  Even if the way she was shot in the brain could possibly be seen as humane, he also could have called animal control.  It wasn’t his responsibility to claim animal life according to the law.  Animal control is authorized to euthanize pets, not people that live 3 doors down from you just because they want to get you where it hurts.  

We have tried to report animal cruelty but IACS nor IMPD cares or will do anything about what happened.  

Please sign our petition and promote/share with friends, family as well as other animal lovers so we can gain justice for Baby and so people like our trigger happy neighbor who shot her out of revenge and vindictiveness cannot get away with what he did.  He hated us and paid us back by ripping away from us a member of our family and a part of our hearts.
