Say no to rezoning Pine Ridge Golf Club to residential
The Issue
Pine Ridge Estates, located in unincorporated Pine Ridge, FL, is a quiet community. Located on the Nature Coast in Citrus County FL, this community has been around for more than 25 years and boasts a slow-paced quiet lifestyle, equestrian facilities, large scale properties, horse trails, and a golf course to name a few things. Pine Ridge Golf Club has been in the community now for more than 20 years, and was just purchased by Shanti Golf LLC.
The current proposal by this company is to take the Executive Course, a 9 hole, par 3 course, (part of Tract T-7), and re-develop it by constructing new apartments, condominiums and/or affordable housing. This proposal would hurt the community as a whole because, if approved, would result in increased traffic, noise, crime, higher taxes, and possibly higher HOA fees.
The entire development is made up 100% of houses, sitting on 1+ acre plots. At present, not all plots have been purchased so there are plenty of housing opportunities available in the neighborhood besides apartments or condominiums. The proposal of this property deal would have a major impact on the values of the homes, ESPECIALLY those on the surrounding golf course property.
We, as a community, should not, and would not welcome such a proposal, rather, the new owner should fix up the current course, including the 9 hole course, to make it more attractive for golf enthusiasts in the surrounding area (Citrus Springs, Citrus Hills, Black Diamond, Inverness, and Crystal River). This has been done with a couple of the courses within the area and they are profitable and successful.
The new owner is known for purchasing failing golf courses and changing the zoning options to residential purely for the money, hurting the surrounding areas as a whole. Please sign this petition, letting the new owner know, that we, as a community (Pine Ridge Estates), do not approve of constructing 'affordable housing' within our community. This would surely hurt the values of ALL of our homes, and would more than likely start a trend in other surrounding neighborhoods. We do not need another 'South Side' of Beverly Hills.
