Hello, my name is Giana Amaral and I am a senior at Pilgrim High School in Warwick, RI. I’m starting this petition in hopes that city officials will see seniors want a better graduation. We appreciate the graduation they are trying to put together for us but we think if we all work together we can do something better while still obeying social distancing guidelines. Another city, North Smithfield, is planning on doing a drive inn graduation, where one car per student parks in designated parking spots spaced 10 ft wide. Students will then be announced on loud speakers and displayed graduating on a big screen using a projector while families watch safely from their cars. I think Warwick could do this as well if we work together as a community. And even if we can’t use our football field because our class is too big, we could even use parks such as Rocky Point or Goddard Park. I think it’s an idea that could be tossed around instead of just getting knocked down without reasoning. I’m not sure if a petition will help but it doesn’t hurt to try!
