SAY NO TO INDUSTRIAL SOLAR POWER PLANTS ON AGRICULTURAL/RESIDENTAL LAND IN PIKE COUNTY
The Issue
Madden Solar/Coronal Energy is a large scale industrial project. The company’s proposal was submitted in 2017. Currently, a special exception is being voted on by the Pike County Commissioners to expand the Solar Power Plant from 304,000 solar panels to 451,600 solar panels on Highway 18- Flat Shoals Road, Hamilton Road, Nixon Road, and Madden Bridge Road.
This project is directly adjacent to Elkins Creek & Bell Creek-both of which feed into the FLINT RIVER. This entire project is located in the Water Protection Area as outlined in Pike's land development plan.
We are asking Pike County Board of Commissioners to vote NO to the special exception MOD-S.E.-17-03 on November 19, 2020.
The expansion of this project was already denied by the Board of Commissioners on September 29th, 2020.
