Learn the reasons why saving Pier 5 FOR ALL is critical:

  • Pier 5 is an historic site positioned at the Head of Boston Harbor
  • It should be restored as a public, open, maritime and historical, recreational, educational and interactive waterfront park accessible for all to enjoy.
  • Its restoration will preserve the site for future generations to access and enjoy
  • Its restoration will enhance the waterfront experience for those of all of Boston’s neighborhoods young and old
  • Its restoration will recognize and celebrate the unique history of the Navy Yard from its inception in 1800 to its closure in 1974 to include securing our nation’s founding, protecting its independence through wartime, ship building innovations and establishing women’s rights
  • Its restoration will be environmentally resilient and help mitigate the impact of climate change
  • Its restoration will preserve and enhance Courageous Sailing
  • Its restoration will provide green space for Charlestown’s growing residential population
  • Pier 5 should not be developed as a restricted, private commercial venture for the benefit of a few built at the expense of public access

Boston Harbor, the Harborwalk and waterfront open space access belong to all
