Three co-workers and I are going on a business trip next month, and we will be flying out of RDU Airport. The flights out of PTI were going to be $600, and the flights out of RDU are $250. Any rebranding or name change would not alter our itinerary. The article (Jan. 12) stated that the airport’s name, PTI, “apparently didn’t resonate with people outside the region.” My opinion is that the price of flying out of PTI doesn’t resonate regardless of your location. All four of us live within 2 miles of the airport but would rather drive a little and save $1,400. My guess is that any changes involved in any rebranding will do little to help our airport increase boardings. I won’t get into the public relations damage done by the surcharge to Uber rides in and out of the airport. If the name change is any indication, I feel sure the consulting firm and any subsequent changes will be a waste of time and money.
