This issue has hit a core nerve of the citizens of the Piedmont Triad area and our identity. I still plan to attend the January 23, 2018 PTI Board Authority and will express my views and the thousands that have spoken. It is not my interest to be a part of the final name that others will recommend, but if asked I will clearly give my opinion as a native of the Piedmont Triad. I continue to have concerns that the Board might be reacting to the public rage and this petition to this stop the name change and their intent is to proceed without any serious public input. The Press Release said this week "The Authority would like to emphasize that the vote to change the name of the airport authorized staff to begin the rebranding process," but it was very clear to everyone that they had already made up their minds on December 19, 2017 when they announced the new name would be "Central North Carolina International Airport". So, I have to asked what was their intent? I am confident their were not expecting to hear such a spur of protest with this petition, news reports and social media comments against this new name. In their Press Release you will find "Geographical branding is critical to the economic development part of the airport’s mission.". What this says to me is that PTI is not Geographical enough to brand our regional airport. What do you thing? Please post your comments on this Change.org website for others to see. In my opinion the best Geographical branding is leave the name "Piedmont Triad" as this is what the are represents and is. What's wrong with this name?
