Economically and racially diversify PUSD by including students from Oakland

The Issue

We would like to include students from Oakland and less funded school district into our school district. The problem with Oakland School Districts is that they are grossly underfunded. Due to budget cuts Oakland Schools are expected to face close to 35M$ in the upcoming school year. This can result in less supplies, teacher hours/compensation, and more. Many former students recall the classrooms to be overcrowded.

Piedmont on the other hand lives in a very exclusive bubble. You cannot be admitted to the school without living in the city. In the elementary schools there are vacancies in classes that have yet to be fulfilled. We are under crowded, overfunded (compared to other school districts). These schools that are majorly populated by low income minorities. By doing this we are filling up vacancies in our own classrooms (primarily elementary schools not being filled to capacity). By sharing our supplies not being used we can help bridge the wealth gap.
