The Issue

Petition for Pickleball Court Lights – College Street

We, the undersigned residents and pickleball players, respectfully request that lights be installed at the pickleball courts on College Street in Simpsonville.

The courts are heavily used by our community, but as winter approaches, it gets dark around 6:00 p.m., making it difficult for those of us who work full-time to play after work.

Adding lights would allow residents to enjoy the courts for a little longer each evening and make better use of this popular community facility.

We understand that nearby neighbors may have concerns about noise and lighting. We support having the lights on a reasonable schedule and turned on and off automatically at an appropriate time to respect those living nearby.

Please consider supporting our request for pickleball court lighting!

Thank you,

Picklelball players

“City of Simpsonville staff is meeting with a contractor soon regarding constructing two additional courts at College Park. The City will move forward with the construction of the new courts if it is within its budget. Staff is also considering renovation of the College Park basketball court and possibly paving of the parking lot. If the City moves forward with constructing additional courts, renovating the basketball court, and paving the parking lot, the budget will not accommodate the installation of lights at least until the end of Fiscal Year 2026-2027, which is June 30, 2027.”
