Pastor Tracy and First Lady Sunshine Gantt are the Founders of a ministry called Tracy and Sunshine Gantt Ministries. With this ministry, they conduct a ton of outreach activities, such as feeding those less fortunate, clothing the homeless and those less fortunate, prison ministry, etc... However, there is one major issue that they have addressed on several occasions and have been fighting for two years to make happen. Unfortunately, their cries for help are going unnoticed. That issue is the need for an emergency homeless shelter and inpatient drug/alcohol facility for Pickens County residents. All surrounding counties have a place for the homeless to seek shelter or drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Pickens County is one county that does not have any option for the homeless to seek shelter or help with addictions. We have organizations and facilities that provide food and clothing for the homeless, but no emergency shelter. Sure, we can feed them and give them clothing, but what happens after that? The city and county are making changes in the community, but no emergency shelter. There are plenty of vacant buildings in Pickens County, but no emergency shelter. These helpless individuals will temporarily have full bellies with clothes on, but what happens to them in extremely cold temperatures or scorching hot temperatures? What people fail to realize is that we are all one paycheck away from being homeless ourselves. Pastor Tracy Gantt has been homeless before, so he knows exactly what it feels like to withstand all types of weather and nowhere to seek shelter. Tracy and Sunshine Gantt Ministries wants to help the homeless by opening a shelter in Pickens County SC, but they need the help of others to make this happen. Their goal is to provide a place where the homeless can seek emergency shelter from all elements of weather, take a shower, change clothes, eat a hot meal, obtain help with addictions and gain guidance to get back on their feet.
