Deny Vatterott application for Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (aka: CF. Vatterott, Vatterott Properties, Southside Homes LP, Affordable City Homes)

The Issue

1.Proposed Design does not architecturally relate to historic standards, are not site specific to the structures in the immediate vicinity of McKinley Heights & Fox Park Neighborhoods.

2. Vatterott’s own income eligibility criteria prohibits homeownership and exploits low income families.

3. After 15 years of occupancy, Vatterott proposed to sell these properties to the tenants, leaves the potential new owner with major  maintenance issues (e.g. roof, AC, furnace).

4. Demolition of McKinley Meadows, 2257-2261 Missouri, winner of City of St. Louis Small Grants Sustainability Competition, would eliminate a valuable community asset.

5. When the former Greg Johnson Memorial Garden on the old Charless School site, 2212-2230 Shenandoah, was purchased by Vatterott, what had been a well planned green space for the neighborhood became a weed infested, overgrown trash dump due to Vatterott’s in attention to its holdings.

Responded
Hi, I recently received urgent emails from numerous citizens in our district concerning the Vatterott application for Low-Income Housing Tax Credits. You can be sure that your State Representative will listen to your concerns and react accordingly. Because many of my neighbors felt so strongly to reach out to me with an issue to Vatterott's proposal, I felt very strongly that I should deny Vatterott's request for a letter of support, and I did just that. Thank you for reaching out to me. Never hesitate to contact my office for anything. Sincerely, State Representative Michael Butler
