OCT 31, 2020 UPDATE

But the fights not over! Phoenix PD NEEDS to drop these baseless charges.

OCT 26, 2020 UPDATE

As of this morning, Suvarna has tested positive for tuberculosis and has been given no chest X-rays or further medical. The two nurses on staff said ‘should we give her a chest X-ray?’ Then they looked at each other, shrugged, and walked away. Suvarna still has not had a meeting with a psychiatric care provider or any of their meds.

The conditions of Estrella Woman's Jail is detrimental to the health of everyone inside.

Help us free Sue!

Suvarna Ratnam was arrested on Oct. 17, 2020 at approximately 8:30 with a group of protesters.

Sue is being kept as a political prisoner in Maricopa's Estrella Woman's Jail under false charges with no bond. Given Phoenix's history of holding Political Prisoners, we are concerned that Sue has now become the 5th.

Sue was held separately from other protesters after reminding others that the police forcing them to give DNA is illegal.

After finally seeing Sue, we noticed their eyes were extremely dilated and they expressed feeling nauseous and sick.

The police are giving Sue the wrong doses of klonopin, as well as keeping their other medication. They are being denied crucial medical treatment as retaliation for knowing their rights.

Sue is an incredible person who goes out of their way to work for their community and those around them.

Please call

And demand the release of Sue.

Phone script: Hi, my name is [insert name] and I live in [insert city and state]. I am calling to demand the immediate release of Suvarna Ratnam from the Maricopa Estrella Jail. Suvarna Ratnam was arrested on October 17, 2020 by the Phoenix PD at while protesting racial injustice. Sue is being held without bond under multiple false charges despite video evidence proving the contrary. Police are giving Sue unspecified doses of klonopin every morning and evening, denying them their medication and denying medical treatment for the extreme arrhythmia they have been experiencing since their arrest.

Releasing Sue Ratnam immediately is the first step your leadership can take to remedy the harm done on peaceful protestors. Citizens from all over the country are monitoring Sue’s condition and waiting on your actions.

Call Penzone and demand Sue receives medical attention and access to the meds they require daily.
