Saving the Philippine Navy's oldest warship, BRP Rajah Humabon

The Issue

On March 15, 2018, after almost four decades under the Philippine Navy's service, the BRP Rajah Humabon was decommissioned by the navy.

Plans are being made by the Philippine Navy to create her as a museum ship, however, even though it is "mulled" there is still a chance that higher ups in the government might change their mind and scrap her instead over budget concerns.

BRP Rajah Humabon, formerly named under the US Navy as USS Atherton (DE-169), is worth saving due to her historical value as she is known to be the last warship known to sink a German U-boat submarine in World War II, and defended the Philippines following its commissioning in 1980 until she was retired in 2018.

Scrapping her will be a huge loss to all Filipinos especially to the next generation and I urge everyone to sign this petition and convince the Philippine Navy, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and even President Rodrigo Duterte to make due with their promise of making her into a museum ship.
