Petition to protect the lives of Overseas Filipino Workers abroad

Just seen the news that the Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed that overseas Filipino worker Jakatia Pawa has been executed in Kuwait. Very sorry to hear this. RIP
I don't know the full circumstances of this particular case, but whatever they are, we do really need to consider whether it is safe for Filipino workers to go abroad to the certain countries anymore, particularly countries that have the death penalty.
With the greatest respect, the Middle East is crying out for OFW's, yet the laws in some countries there can be a lot stricter than ours and do not always protect women who report sexual assaults and rape and such like. In fact in some countries, they can even be punished???!!!
Until the Philippines can be sure that their Overseas workers can be completely protected against harsh treatment, low pay, lack of medical treatment, long hours and in some cases, being treated as modern day slaves, which we still hear about, maybe the Philippines needs to consider a ban on sending their citizens to countries where their citizens are not given the respect they deserve?
Finally, I would like to state that I acknowledge that in many cases, their are laws protecting Overseas workers in some countries in the Middle East and many Filipinos working their are treated well and highly respected, however this is not always the case. This petition hopes to strengthen the protection for Filipinos working abroad.
This petition is calling on the Philippine government to introduce a Bill allowing for an introduction of individual assessments by the government before allowing their citizens to travel abroad in search of employment. This will ensure that that the individual is suitably prepared to work overseas and to ensure that employers are suitable and the Filipino is not going to be abused or treated badly.
