Justice for Todd
The Issue
On May 29th, 2016 Todd Burroughs was on his way home from a wedding with his wife & two children. In just a few short minutes that trip home turned into a nightmare. Todd & his dog was gunned down in the driveway of his own home - in front of his wife & kids - by two Rockingham County Sheriff's Deputies (RCSD) in what they are calling a "routine traffic stop".
Todd was an awesome man - "Gentle Giant" as he's been referred to so many times lately. He'd give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. Stoneville, NC has a population of just over 1000 ... A small town that shares a love for Todd & stands firm in wanting the Justice that he deserves.
Rumor Mills have churned up so many stories over the last 5 weeks. It took 2 weeks for the names of the deputies to be released to the public. Over that time ... deputies who had nothing to do with the case were accused of being involved. Innocent lives on both sides have been affected by this. RCSD Sam Page has never missed an opportunity in front of the camera ... He's now being referred to as "Silent Sam" since this situation took place. NC SBI immediately took over the case so that is the reason Sam is giving for not speaking. At least one deputy was wearing a body camera. The footage on that camera will offer closure to the family & the community. Good or Bad - Right or Wrong ... The TRUTH is on that body camera. A Superior Court Judge has sealed the video footage - along with that they have also sealed the request to have the footage sealed. With it being sealed it has only lead to more speculation that something is being hidden.
The family needs closure. They will never get over what happened & the loss of such an awesome man BUT seeing the body cam footage will give them closure on the events that lead to his death. Along with that it will also ease the minds of the community.
What really happened that night on Garrett Road? That's a question we all ask ourselves everyday. With your help in signing this petition we can hopefully get the answers that we all deserve.
