The residents of Antiquity in Cornelius, NC request the repaving of the Antiquity development and the addition of speed-reducing mechanisms on Old Canal St. The current road conditions have reached a state of being hazardous and unacceptable. Many man-hole covers have extensive protrusion above the current pavement level causing drivers to drive outside the normal flow of traffic. As a result, residents are regularly encountering hazardous driving conditions. Also, many roads have potholes and uneven pavement. These conditions are causing excessive wear-and-tear on vehicles and creating additional car repair expenses for residents.

 Old Canal St. has become a thruway for Davidson/Cornelius traffic. The road is not designed to accommodate the current traffic flow. We ask that measures be put in place to reduce speed and discourage drivers from using this a main traffic thruway. This situation also creates a serious safety hazard for the children in our development which should be the utmost concern of the city and current property management.

 It is our desire to see Antiquity remain a welcoming and desirable community where people enjoy living. If current conditions progress, our development will become vulnerable to accidents, additional expense for residents, and impacted property values. As these concerns have been raised by various residents over the past few years, we ask that management immediately act on these requests.
