Governor Phil Murphy is willfully ignoring the economic strife he is inflicting on the state of New Jersey. While he claims that his decisions are data driven, it appears that he only cherry picks data that suits his narrative.

He has moved the goal posts for re-opening the state so many times it is difficult to keep track. Initially it was '14 Days to Flatten the Curve'. Then we needed to 'Restore our Hospitals to Health' then we needed to 'Break the Back of the Virus' now we need to 'Stay Home to Save Lives.' There is no longer any logic to his decisions, and he is digging a financial hole for New Jersey's small businesses that will be impossible to get out of.

The governor's 'roadmap' to re-open placed all burden for re-opening on the state. Instead of providing concrete numbers or attainable, timely, and focused goals, he has intentionally made ambiguous and impossible to follow statements that provide no realistic path.

We will never be able to eradicate this virus entirely, and science is continually pointing to it being much less deadly to the majority of the population than the initial estimates that provoked the original lockdown policies. There have been 50+ serology studies that place the actual fatality rate of this virus at much less than a percent for most people. If anything, we should be looking to protect our most vulnerable. More than 50% of New Jersey's deaths have occurred in nursing and care centers. Our most 'locked in' are actually in the most danger, and nothing is being done about it.

A vaccine is not a promise, nor is a treatment. At this point - the only thing we are eradicating is our economy and our state's jobs and livelihoods. The virus isn't going anywhere. Secondary effects of the stay at home orders are being ignored. There is no consideration for the impending poverty most residents are facing, or the broken unemployment system. There is no empathy for residents unable to feed their families or continue their livelihoods.

Open New Jersey. Save small business. Or the world you left back in March will not be the same world you come out to whenever Phil Murphy decides to end his tyranny over the state of New Jersey.
