The Church Road car park near Bebington Civic Centre is a vital community resource. It is used regularly by

• members of community groups such as Wirral 3Ls attending classes and other activities in the Civic Centre
• visitors to Bebington Library, including mother and baby groups
• clients of Wirral Council One Stop Shop
• Slimming World and Weightwatchers members
• patients attending appointments at the nearby Medical Centre
• customers of local shops and other businesses

Civic Centre users may spend some time in the building and many may not be able to afford to pay three or more hours parking charges. The continued existence of community groups based in the Civic centre may be under threat, with a resulting impact on the quality of life of Wirral citizens. In addition Wirral Council would lose the significant rent paid by community groups for the use of the premises.   We therefore urge the members of Wirral Council to reconsider urgently the proposed imposition of parking charges in Church Road
