Why this petition matters

Started by Sarah Creel

Prince George’s Public Schools are trying to redraw school boundaries to prevent over- and under-utilization of PGCPS buildings. PGCPS  has chosen a scenario where Pointer Ridge will be closed for being underutilized. We must save our school!

Pointer Ridge Elementary is a neighborhood school. It is an EGATE (Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education) school and is a driving center of the Pointer Ridge Community. If it is closed the children will be split between Northview Elementary, Perrywood Elementary, and Woodmore Elementary. We need to keep our kids in the community.
Additionally, Amber Meadows and South Lake are both planned communities that could be included in the school boundary that will add 1500 additional housing units. It does not make logistical sense for them to close Pointer Ridge Elementary.
Please help to keep our school open.
