PG&E, Install More Power Lines Underground to Stop Wildfires!

PG&E, Install More Power Lines Underground to Stop Wildfires!
The Issue
After 88 deaths and 150,000 acres of California wilderness and homes burned to the ground, Pacific Gas and Electric Co. still refuses to take responsibility for Camp Fire--the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California history.
The power company is currently under investigation for negligence in maintaining the above ground high voltage wire reported responsible for starting the destructive blaze. In fact, PG&E has been proven responsible for 17 of the last 21 wildfires in Northern California. The startling frequency of fires is proof that PG&E must invest in safer underground power lines to save lives and California wildlife.
Sign and share today to urge PG&E to prevent forest fires by installing safer underground power lines in California.
Studies show the majority of man-made wildfires are directly related to incidents with power lines above ground (branches falling on them, not maintained.) PG&E is hiding behind claims of high cost for shifting to below-ground lines but there is no price for human lives. Instead of waiting to respond to wildfires after they’ve started, why not prevent them? Instead of an annual burden of $71.1 billion to $347.8 billion and wasting precious water resource while in a drought, why not spend this money to prevent power lines from catching on fire?
A tragedy like the Camp Fire should never happen again. If you agree, add your support today to urge PG&E to help prevent deadly forest fires by installing more underground power lines.
