Stop petsmart selling hamsters

The Issue

Pet smart sells sick and elderly hamsters to everyday people claiming their younger and  healthier than they are.

I purchased two hamsters from petsmart, one after the other and they both died within a month. I am passionate about hamsters and have watched all the hamster care videos out there. I took perfect care of these two hamsters yet these tradgedys still  happened. One of my hamsters was claimed to have been 5 months but in reality was 1-1 1/2 years old. I could tell due to his incredibly yellow teeth and grey, patchy hair.

When purchasing my first hamster, Woody (who passed away not even a month after getting him) there was a dead hamster in the cage which most likely passed a disease to mine and I’m pretty sure all the others in there as well.

I was devastated when Woody passed away, and when I was finally ready to get another hamster, not even a week had passed before he had died. That is not right.

These hamsters are also kept in small cages where they spend the majority of there lives and have wheels made of mesh and are way to small. These factors are both very bad for hamsters and could lead to a disease called “Bumblefoot” and make your hamster obese and unhealthy.

If you are wondering where to buy your hamster if PetSmart don’t sell them, there are many hamster breeders all across the globe who sell healthy and well loved hamsters rather than ones who have been stuffed in a cage for the whole of their lives.

Please sign and stop thousands of hamsters being caged up without the proper care, attention and the lives they deserve. This may not mean much to you, but it’s an incredibly passionate subject for me, and hundreds of thousands of other people. Please. This could change many lives for the better.
