The Issue

I've always believed that where we spend our money reflects what we value.

As an animal lover, I recently switched my dog's food to Open Farm because I wanted to support a company whose values align with my own. That decision led me to PetSmart—but it also forced me to confront something I couldn't ignore.

PetSmart continues to sell products from Marshall Pet Products, a company that has faced longstanding criticism from animal welfare advocates over its breeding practices and connections to the laboratory animal industry. For many pet owners, supporting companies associated with these practices is inconsistent with the compassion we expect from a retailer that serves people who love animals.

As someone living in Wisconsin, I've also watched growing public concern over animal welfare following reports involving Ridglan Farms. Those stories have reminded many of us that consumers have the power—and the responsibility—to encourage companies to make more ethical choices.

This petition isn't about attacking PetSmart. It's about asking the company to lead.

We are asking PetSmart to review its product offerings and discontinue partnerships with brands whose practices conflict with the values of compassion, humane treatment, and animal welfare that so many of its customers believe in.

PetSmart has an opportunity to demonstrate that it listens to its customers and is committed to putting animal welfare first.

If you believe pet retailers should prioritize humane and ethical sourcing, please sign this petition. Together, our voices can encourage meaningful change and show that compassion matters.
