Pets at Home is a large pet supply retailer - a shop you can find all over the UK. They sell a large variety of pet supplies including bedding, food, treats, medical supplies etc. However, they mistreat their animals and they are not properly taken care of; specifically small animals.

Hamsters are given wood shavings which are not only very cheap and low quality, but can also cause respiratory system infections. In the majority of cages, only half an inch of bedding is provided meaning a hamster cannot burrow. A flying saucer wheel is usually given and they are far too small for hamsters to even properly spin on it. Food and water is given which is okay but some cages do not even have hideouts. It’s also important to take into consideration the sizes of the cages that hamsters are put in - they look around 180sq inches which is FAR too small! The minimum provided by the RSPCA is 80cm x 50cm. Overall, hamsters are provided with very little cage space and minimal enrichment which can be fatal to their health and mood. As well as this, most of their hamsters are kept in groups which is dangerous because hamsters are solitary. Although dwarfs and robos live in colonies in the wild, it is only for safety and survival which isn’t necessary when they are held captive. 

Pets at home’s care guide is also very vague and they even fail to include basic necessities this hamster is. This is all because of marketing and they would not make money if they disclosed proper information on a hamsters’ needs.
