Ban the sale of pets at home chew toys that are unsafe
Pets at home chew toys such as the Pets at Home Edible Gnaw Carrot Small Animal Chew and the Small Animal Arched Play Bridge are advertised as being safe for Guinea Pigs, Chinchillas, Degus, Rats, Gerbils, Syrian Hamsters, Dwarf Hamsters and Mice. This is not true. The ingredients of these chews (and some others) are as listed; Sawdust 76.5%, Modified Starch 10%, Glycerine 5%, Alfalfa 5%, Sodium Alginate 2.5%, Potassium Sorbate 0.5%, Propionic Acid 0.4%, Artificial Colourings 0.1%. Compressed sawdust is unsafe to consume for small animals and can cause blockages, digestive issues as well as being a major chocking hazard. Many animals have suffered and even lost their lives to these chew toys, which is why I am asking pets at home to reconsider the sale of these and either replace them with a safer chew toy or discontinue this product all together.
