Pets Are Family — Reform International Travel & Immigration Laws for Companion Animals

Pets Are Family — Reform International Travel & Immigration Laws for Companion Animals
The Issue
🗣️ Target Decision Makers:
United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, PETA International, Four Paws International, Global Immigration Authorities, IATA, WHO, RSPCA, global immigration and health authorities regulating pet travel, and other national governments regulating animal travel.
We, the global community of pet guardians, demand recognition:
Our adopted animals are not property. They are not ‘cargo’.
They are family.
Governments around the world must update travel, immigration, and quarantine policies to reflect the emotional, psychological, and social bond between humans and their companion animals.
Our Key Demands:
1. Recognize companion animals as family dependents
2. Simplify local and international travel with pets, especially cats and small animals
3. Limit or remove inhumane quarantine practices
4. Include pet guardianship in visa, refugee, and immigration frameworks
5. Create a global animal welfare standard that honors emotional bonds — not just disease control
We are the generation who adopted when others left.
Who stayed when others disappeared.
Our animals are not accessories.
They are the soul companions of our lives.
🐾 My cat Luna is 2.5 kg.
She does not carry disease, risk, or threat.
She carries love, loyalty, and healing —
I didn’t adopt her to abandon her.
She is not a pet. She is my chosen family.
