Shut it down.

Shut it down.
The Issue
Petland in Robinson (Pittsburgh, PA) is abusing it's animals.
Jeff Koury, the owner, is not only a horrible businessman, who is known to yell at customers and charge ridiculously unreasonable prices, but also lies to the public about where the puppies in his store come from (puppy mills), claiming that the dogs are from AKC breeders. In actuality, they come from "breeders" such as Tim Deters, who has been cited for many counts of cruelty to these dogs.
ALL of Petland's puppies are sick. In one instance, a cocker spaniel puppy had parvovirus, a highly contagious and deadly illness, and when Koury's employees had informed him that the dog may be ill, he ignored it and allowed the puppy to interact with many customers, who could now spread the disease to their own pets at home. The puppies at Petland are not walked or taken out for exercise, and the larger breeds are kept in the same size cages as the smaller breeds, with little room to move or breathe, seeing as their cages are covered in diarrhea and vomit because these dogs are sick.
The abuse does not stop there. A ferret had convulsed and become unconscious in front of customers, and instead of taking it to the vet, Koury forced his employee to tell the horrified customers that the animal was fine, and proceeded to put the ferret back in the enclosure. White mice kept in the back room are crowded into tanks and begin to eat each other. Koury refuses to sex the baby mice, a regular practice done in reputable pet stores, and instead puts them in the freezer, alive, to sell as snake food.
Instead of spending money to treat sick and injured animals, Koury kills them. In one instance, a hamster had a badly infected paw. When an employee tried to treat it, he had it killed. And when a basset hound mix puppy had a skin rash, he sent it back to the puppy mill to be killed.

Please sign to this to help convince the City of Pittsburgh that it's time for Petland to be shut down. The cruelty needs to stop.
