Lemon Harvey moved to Tampa,  Fla. with his wife after graduating from Florida A&M University in the 1970s. Starting a new career in law enforcement Lemon quickly began to build a beautiful family along with a home on the corner of C.R. 579 and Bessie Dix Rd.. Able to become a detective for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and Substitute Teacher before the age of 30, Cpl Harvey was well on his way to becoming a great leader. Until Dec 15th 1981, two gunmen waited in Cpl. Harvey's front yard until he returned home from work. As he stepped out of his patrol car ending his patrol shift he was shot and killed by the two men hiding in his yard. Cpl Harvey was left to be found by neighbors the following morning.

Lemon Harvey left behind a wife and two children. 

Changing the name of County Road 579 to Cpl. Lemon Harvey Rd. we're Mr. Harvey lived and attempted to start a family would impact his legacy as well as the neighborhood he patroled and traveled daily. 

Mr. Harvey was a God-fearing man with a love for education, family values and hard work.
