SHHHH!... TOP SECRET ‘MAJOR PROJECT’ IN THE WORKS…

On Saturday 11th March, the Cottimore Lane Road Safety Campaign team were invited to meet with Surrey County Councillor Rachael Lake at Walton Library to discuss the speed deterrent measures that were applied for some time ago...

Unfortunately, we were told that Surrey Highways have still not yet provided any feedback on these measures.

Instead, we were advised that they are likely holding back on providing feedback because there is a different ‘MAJOR PROJECT’ that Surrey County Council have been forging for quite a few weeks that will improve Cottimore Lane and tackle the issue of speeding – AT. THE. SAME. TIME.

You might be thinking; ‘It almost sounds too good to be true! If it's been going on for weeks, why haven’t we been told about this before?!’…

So did we, and we were also eager to find out more details about this brilliant sounding ‘major project’...

Sadly, despite being advised that the ‘major project’ has been in the making for quite some weeks now, we were repeatedly told that absolutely no information about the 'major project' could be divulged at this time and that we will have to wait for three weeks for any further information.

So, for now, it remains a secret until we hear from Surrey County Council in a few weeks time…

The date three weeks from Saturday 11th March?... Yep, that’s right… It’s April Fool’s Day.

We sincerely hope this happens to be nothing more than a coincidence…

COTTIMORE LANE ROAD SAFETY CAMPAIGN IN THE NEWS

Over the past few weeks, we have been busy spreading the word about the campaign and the outpouring of support we have received has been incredible.

Click the links below to our recent interviews and mentions in the press:

Interview on BBC Radio Surrey

(Interviews at 1:10:54 and 2:07:30)

We were disappointed to hear Surrey County Council’s response that “…there are currently no plans to introduce speed management measures…”, despite the fact that Surrey County Councillor Rachael Lake had already proposed plans to implement speed management measures and there was a ‘major project’ in the works?...

Thank you to Alan Bosson for inviting us to talk about the campaign and for signing the petition!
