Help Indiana to protect animals from hot and cold unattended vehicles

The Issue

Help Indiana follow other states protect animals against being trapped in unattended vehicles during extreme weather conditions. It is illegal to leave any animal unnatended in any vehicle without proper ventilation in only 19 U.S. States which includes AZ, CA, DE, IL, MD, ME, MN, NV, NH, NJ, NY, NC, ND, RI, SD, TN, VT, WA, and WV. In order for a person to violate the law of breaking and entering the animal must be in extreme conditions (near death). Even then you risk getting in legal trouble. "Even on seemingly mild days, an enclosed car can be deadly. In a Stanford University study, when it was 72 degrees outside, a car’s internal temperature climbed to 116 degrees within one hour." "Dogs are especially vulnerable to heat-related illness because they can only cool off by panting and through the pads in their feet." " Studies show that cracking the windows has little effect on a car’s internal temperature." Source: https://redrover.org/press-release/hot-cars-are-death-traps-dogs This law can reduce animal suffering and deaths from extreme weather. This can also reduce the number of broken windows this coming summer. Please please help Indiana follow in other states footsteps in protecting those who do not have a voice. Thank you, Kim Plewa
