Petition Urging Governor Kemp to Veto HB 369

Petition Urging Governor Kemp to Veto HB 369
The Issue
We, the undersigned citizens of Georgia, respectfully urge Governor Brian Kemp to veto HB 369.
HB 369 makes significant changes to how certain local officials in Georgia are elected in ONLY Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett Counties to include District Attorneys, County Commissioners, Tax Commissioners, Clerks of Court, and Solicitors General.
Changes to how elections are conducted are serious and far-reaching decisions that affect voters, candidates, and entire communities. Decisions of this magnitude should be made with full transparency, public awareness, and ample opportunity for public input.
Many Georgia voters are concerned that these changes were made late in the legislative process and that communities most impacted did not have sufficient opportunity to voice their concerns or participate in the discussion.
This legislation will have a significant impact on African American communities by targeting and potentially eliminating Black leadership in key local offices.
Regardless of political party, Georgians believe in fair elections, transparent government, and a process that gives citizens a voice in decisions that affect their local communities.
For these reasons, we respectfully ask Governor Kemp to veto HB 369.
Fair Elections Deserve Fair Process.
Respectfully,
The Citizens of Georgia
