This is an open petition that is by the students for faculty, staff, students, family members and community members of the Atascadero Unified school District.

PETITION TO AUSD Superintendent, AUSD Offices, and the AUSD School Board:

•  WHEREAS, the AUSD School Board, as the governing body for all Atascadero schools, have a responsibility to fairly represent the students and faculty within the district of Atascadero and abide by the needs of those respective parties; AND,
• WHEREAS, in a public meeting on March 1st, Board President Ms. Terri Switzer compared being unvaccinated to being Jewish in the Holocaust and said it was part of the "New World Order". Board President Ms. Switzer who represents parts of minority within the school district said the following "Like the Holocaust, I could not prove if I was a German or a Jew, oh I mean my vaccine status. This is New World Order. Manmade germ worldfare. That has crippled this country and caused for alarm." 
• WHEREAS, as stated in the Atascadero School Board Policy GAMUT, Title Community Relations code BP 1313 Subsection Expected Level of Behavior, "District employees should treat parents/guardians and other members of the public with civility, courtesy and respect". Many of the members that are within the Atascadero Unified School District find the precedent being set by the above quote to be in direct violation of this Board Policy as it furthers the existingly disproportionate representation students through race and ethnicity along with an tragic event that should not be compared to be unvaccinated. Comparing being unvaccinated to the Holocaust is highly inappropriate and disrespectful as those who lost their lives in that event didn't have a choice.
• WHEREAS, in a public meeting on March 1st, Board Member/ Trustee Ray Buban compared the anti-mask protesters apparent horrible treatment by comparing it to them being treated as third class citizens or people that should be sitting at the back of the bus. Board Member/ Trustee Ray Buban also represents a minority of people throughout the district of Atascadero. His statements for this events are the following

  "The treatment that these protesters were receiving because of the letters and everything that I was getting from you parents and he assures me that that's all been taken care of and that your children are no longer being segregated disrespected and treated like third-class citizens or someone that should be sitting at the back of the bus or not being allowed to sit at the lunch counter he's assured me that that's it really surprises me that our teachers in their principles did that to these kids that's just disgusting."; AND

   

• WHEREAS, as stated in the the Atascadero School Board Policy GAMUT, Title Civil Rights and Legal Rights Code BP  4319.1, 4119.1,4219.1  Personnel, Paragraph 2 "An employee's religious or political activities, or the lack thereof, shall not be grounds for any discrimination or disciplinary action by the district, provided these activities do not violate Board policy, administrative regulations or local, state or federal laws." Many of the members that are within the Atascadero Unified School District find the precedent being set by the above quote to be in direct violation of this Board Policy as it furthers the existingly disproportionate representation students of race as this board member compares race to treatment of anti-maskers. This action that Board member/ Trustee Ray Buban has taken is not okay. It is highly discriminatory as many members of the African American race dealt with things throughout different centuries that they couldn't control. Those who are anti-maskers are nowhere close to what many people of color had to deal with. People of color were born with the race that they have. Those who don't wear their mask is a choice.

   

  THEREFORE, We, undersigned faculty, staff, students, family members and community members of the Atascadero Unified School District:
• DEMAND that given there is no clear removal or impeachment process stated in both the California Constitution or AUSD Board Policy GAMUT, that through the power that resides within the Governor and/or the appropriate governing bodies, in the case of California that being the Superintendent, urge for the immediate recall and/or investigation of impeachment of Board President Terri Switzer and Board member/ Trustee Ray Buban from the Atascadero Unified School District Board.
• DEMAND in the case that an impeachment and/or investigation is not put in place in response to Board President Terri Switzer and Board member/ Trustee Ray Bubans' actions, urge the Superintendent to ask for their resignation from their respective positions, following with their formal removal if compliance is not met.
