We, the undersigned, are profoundly saddened and outraged by the heart-breaking fate of Boy Boy, a defenceless elderly poodle who suffered *unspeakable torture* and *painful death* at the hands of a domestic worker employed to look after him. The anguish and terror Boy Boy endured demand immediate action for a profound shift in our approach to animal welfare in Singapore.

We beseech the responsible government agencies to investigate this case with urgent priority and prosecute the offender to the fullest extent of the law. We also call for the government to take a firm stance against all acts of animal cruelty by conducting a fresh review of the relevant statues. Penalties need to be enhanced with mandatory prison sentences for longer periods of time for animal abusers. They also should be banned from owning pets and working with pets for life, not just a year.

Boy Boy's tragic story underscores the critical need for robust measures to protect all animal citizens from harm and neglect. There is a need for stricter legislation that reflects our society's commitment to justice and empathy for all living beings.

Please, let Boy Boy's legacy be one of positive change—a catalyst for a more compassionate and humane society where animals are valued and protected. And where those who cause harm are punished heavily for their evil actions.
