CAPT President

Accuracy is paramount as we engage in this vital dialogue about our profession’s future. The previously listed President of the Canadian Association of Pharmacy Technicians (CAPT) was incorrect and The president's name is Sheena Deane.

The Petition Origin

The characterization of the recent petition in CAPT's statement as the work of an "anonymous" individual is incorrect. To label it as such is to ignore the thousands of regulated health professionals who have courageously added their names to this movement.

This petition was not birthed by a single person; it was forged by the collective frustration and exhaustion of thousands of Pharmacy Technicians across the province. If you seek the identity of those behind this movement, you need only look at the thousands of signatures on our petition—those are the faces of your members.

Nationwide Issue

Thirdly CAPT'S response has inadvertently made it clear that this is not a provincial issue but a nation wide one. As such change needs to occur - even if it is one province at a time . Ontario can be the one to lead the change with the appropriate support and call to action to reduce yearly renewal fees

Accountability Vs. Support

We are well aware that CAPT does not hold the pen when the OCP makes these decisions. We are not asking you to make the change; we are asking you to stand with us and support us in our endeavor.

As our national association, your role is not to be a bystander or a critic of grassroots advocacy. Your role is to be our shield and our megaphone. Instead of attempting to dismiss or distance yourselves from this movement, you should be standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the technicians who fund your organization and define your mission.

Leadership is measured in moments of crisis. When it comes time for technicians to renew their CAPT memberships, they will remember how they were treated in this moment. They will remember whether their association chose to protect the status quo or chose to protect its people.

We are asking for support, not silence. We are asking for advocacy, not apathy. It is time for CAPT to show the same dedication to its members that it expects from us when our membership fees are due.

Stand with us. The profession is watching.
