Subject: Alumni Demand for Transparency, Integrity, and Excellence in the

FAMU Presidential Search Process

We, the undersigned alumni, donors, supporters, and friends of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), write to you today with a unified voice and an urgent message. Our beloved university stands at a pivotal crossroads. The choice of the next President will define the future of FAMU—not only for those who are currently part of the Rattler community but for generations to come.

As such, we strongly urge the Board of Trustees and the FBOG to conduct a transparent, rigorous, and integrity-driven selection process that places merit, experience, and alignment with FAMU’s mission at the forefront.

Our Demands Are Clear:

1. Fair Evaluation of All Finalists
   We demand that the Board evaluate all finalists with equity and rigor, based on objective qualifications, demonstrated leadership, vision, and the capacity to advance FAMU’s national standing and mission as an HBCU and research institution.
2. Protection from Political Influence
   We are deeply concerned about the potential for undue political interference in this process. FAMU deserves a leader selected based on credentials—not political alignment. The appointment must reflect what is best for the university and its future.
3. Engagement with Alumni and Key Stakeholders
   Alumni are among the most invested stakeholders in the university. We demand greater transparency and two-way communication between the Board and the FAMU alumni community throughout this process.
4. Commitment to Excellence and Stability
   We urge the Board to prioritize stability, academic credibility, and cultural alignment over political expediency. The future of our students, faculty, and the legacy of FAMU depends on it.

A Call to Action
As alumni, we contribute not only financially but also serve as ambassadors for this institution every day in our professional, civic, and social lives. We stand ready to support and champion a President who is selected through a process rooted in excellence and integrity.

We are watching this process closely. The future of FAMU is too important for anything less than our highest standards.
