Subject: Demand for the Immediate Initiation of Impeachment Proceedings Against Governor Edward Miner Lamont Jr.

We, the undersigned men, women and taxpayers of Connecticut, hereby submit this petition to formally call upon the Connecticut General Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Edward Miner Lamont Jr. on the grounds of repeated failure to uphold the principles and obligations of his office.

Governor Lamont has engaged in conduct that constitutes a betrayal of the trust placed in him by the people of Connecticut and a violation of the Connecticut State Constitution. The following summarizes the basis of this petition:

Grounds for Impeachment

Violation of Constitutional and Religious Freedoms
Governor Lamont has supported and enforced mandates that infringe upon constitutionally protected religious freedoms, particularly through the removal of religious exemptions for vaccinations. This not only contravenes individual liberty but violates the principles of the First Amendment and Section 3 of the Connecticut Constitution.
Mismanagement of State Resources
Under Governor Lamont’s leadership, Connecticut has seen a continued rise in debt and cost of living, without corresponding improvement in services or economic opportunity. Fiscal policies pursued by the administration have placed an increasing burden on residents and small businesses.
Use of Public Funds to Support Individuals in Violation of Federal Immigration Law
Governor Lamont has allocated state funds to provide services—including free medical care, education, and housing—to individuals who have entered the country illegally, while legal residents and citizens face growing challenges accessing basic services. This prioritization reflects a misallocation of public resources.
Corruption and Lack of Transparency
The Lamont administration has been the subject of multiple lawsuits and ethics concerns, including but not limited to:
Allegations involving no-bid contracts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Conflicts of interest involving businesses and personal relationships tied to state contracts and funds.
Ongoing lawsuits alleging discrimination, procedural violations, and misuse of executive authority.
These raise serious ethical and legal questions that warrant legislative inquiry.

Conclusion and Request

The Connecticut Constitution grants the General Assembly the authority to remove a sitting governor who has violated the public trust. We, the undersigned, believe the above actions constitute sufficient grounds for such action. We respectfully urge the Connecticut House of Representatives to convene a Select Committee of Inquiry to investigate these matters thoroughly and move forward with articles of impeachment if merited.
