Dear friends,
As of today 640 students, faculty, staff and friends of SU have signed our petition to the chancellor and provost. Many of you left thoughtful and heartfelt comments. Chancellor Syverud sent out an encouraging e-mail last Friday emphasizing the core values of our university and our responsibility to care for those of us who feel vulnerable. We think, however, that more needs to be said and more needs to be done and that we should think together what sticking to our core values really entails.
We are planning to make an appointment with the Chancellor as soon as possible. We will hand over the signatures and all the comments, but we also want to give him a list of suggestions on what the university could concretely do. For that reasons we ask you to send us your ideas and viewpoints on the role our university could play in this situation. Please leave those amongst the comments, which we will present.
We also plan to have a brainstorming meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6PM. It remains a smaller group we plan to meet in Flame (713 E. Fayette St, Syracuse NY). If it turns out that we’ll be many, we will look for another place.
Please let us know if you want to join and we’ll let you know about the place.
We hope to hear from you or see you soon!
